SUBTERRANEAN HITS, VOL 2
THE ILL SAINT PRESENTS
WSCD025
Last year's Subterranean Hitz Vol. 1 blew so many wigs and raked in so much cheddar that we couldn't front on the faithful horde of freaks that support us. So, boom! Here it is, straight out the dungeons of hip-hop, brand new, The Ill Saint Presents Subterranean Hitz, Vol. 2 (WSCD/LP025).
Kicking off the new year with mad flavor and mad styles, Sub Hitz 2 picks up where Vol. 1 left off, with certified dope jams from Prince Paul, Afrika "Baby Bam" of the Jungle Brothers, DJ Rob Swift (X-ecutioners), and Scotty Hard (New Kingdom). Crooklyn mainstays like Djinji Brown, Spectre, Sensational, and Ish also represent lovely this time around as well as new hedz like Mr. Dead, M. Sayyid, Unipod Particles, and Mr. Law. And, of course, we couldn't forget Hawd Gankstuh Rappuh Emcees Wit Ghatz, whose "I'm Goin' Ta Jail" definitely fried some braincells on Vol. 1.
Basically, Sub Hitz Vol. 2 is bigger, badder, and deeper than Vol. 1, so stick that in your box and boom it. This collection is not about old school or new school, but about the Ill School--niggas who aren't afraid to do what they feel and create something original and exciting. You're not gonna hear any tired '70s or '80s hits looped over a beat here. The only looping is gonna be goin' on in your head as you wonder what planet these demented tracks came from. Tell 'em Crooklyn, kid, the planet where hedz do what they want, regardless, until the cops force us to stop. And they can't stop these crucial soundz from the coming era because we about to take over. Word is bond.
